Vocabulary: Vegetables

Let’s learn vegetable names! Of course I know that botanically Tomatoes are fruits. But here we just say it as a vegetable. Same with other so called vegetables like ‘lemon’ and ‘pumpkin’.

Vegetables = सब्जी (sabji) / तरकारी (tarkaari)

Carrot = गाजर (gajar)

Tomato = टमाटर (tamatar)

Pumpkin = फर्सी (pharsi)

Baby Pumpkin = गट्टा (gatta)

Okra = चिप्ले भेन्टी (chiple bhenti)

Onion = प्याज (pyaj)

Garlic = लसुन (lasun)

Ginger = अदुवा (aduwa)

Bitter Gourd = करेला (karela)

Gourd = लौका (lauka)

Spinach = साग (sag)

Peas = मटर (matar)

Potato = आलु (aalu)

Beans = गेडागुडी (gedagudi)

Cauliflower = काउली (kaauli)

Cabbage: गोभी (gobhi)

Coriander: धनिया (dhaniya)

Radish: मुला (mula)

Cucumber: काक्रा (kakra)

Lemon: कागती (kagati)
